Who We Are: On this website, we share practical information on local food, focused through our lens as parents and writers. We -- Kristi and Renee -- know how hard it can be to feed ourselves and our families food we feel good about, while juggling the demands of real lives. We wanted to make healthier food easier to come by. And we found that part of the answer was right here in our own backyard.
Where We Are: We live in a Maryland suburb of Washington, DC, and much of the information on our website is specific to our neck of the woods. We are part of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed, including Virginia, Delaware and Pennsylvania, so we also have lots of information relevant to the entire region. But, no matter where you live, we’re sure you’ll find something here that can help you access local food in your own area!
Why and How: Eating fresh and local food is fun, healthy, tasty and environmentally-friendly! It strengthens community and it supports your local economy. With a little planning and creativity, we found using local items in our everyday menus can be affordable and convenient. We hope this website will make it easier for you to buy and prepare local food, too.
