How can I get grown-ups to eat local?

Some older folks are enthusiatic about eating local. Many grew up in a time when agrarian lifestyles were more common. Even if they themselves didn't grow up on a farm, they probably lived near one or had relatives "in the country." Going to a farmers' market can be a nostalgic exercise for them.

But for folks of any age who have gotten a little set in their ways, just introduce individual local items into their favorite dishes without fanfare. The taste of fresh local peaches in a summer pie, or farmers' market eggs scrambled up for a weekend breakfast will spark their taste buds and, perhaps, open the way to trying more local food .
